Love bugs

In case someone reading this is smarter then I and has managed to avoid the state of Florida during the months of September and May here is an Intro into THE LOVE BUG.

Now for the top 5 things that I can't stand about LOVE BUGS in no particular order:

1) This little factoid grosses me out. "Upon reaching maturity the lovebug spends almost the entirety of its remaining life copulating with its mate, hence its numerous romantic nicknames." I don't like little bugs mating in swarms all over the place.

2) It is impossible to drive anyplace in Florida right now without hitting these nasty little bugs. The get all over you car. The best part that after 48 hours the acid in the bug guts starts to eat away at the paint and enamel on your car. During the months of September and May 4 times a week car washes are required.

3) Donovan finds dead lovebugs all over and picks them up and...wait for it... tries to eat them! Horror!!!

4) A.J. is scared to death of them ( and who can blame him). I have nearly been in two car accidents due to him screaming because a lovebug (actually a pair of lovebugs) has found their way into the truck. He screams as if a finger has been amputated. Not a good sound to hear going 60+ on the highway.

and the #5 worst thing about lovebugs is...

5) Answering William's questions about them. "why are they stuck together", "why are they called love bugs", "If they are in love they should be kissing not flying with their butts stuck together". I really don't want to acts of life talk to be fueled by questions about the mating ritual of insects.

There has been a long standing Rumor in Florida that these bugs are a man made genetic experiment gone wrong at the University of Florida. The story that I hear has something to do with mating a house fly and a mosquito together. Well I looked it up on Snoops.com and the link below is what they have to say.

LOL...My 8 yr old loves to catch them and pull them apart. Will that kill them? IDK...but i know they are so harmless. Very annoying because there are so many but harmless
