Three

No one ever talks about three. We hear about two all the time. They have entire articles about the "terrible two's" but not much about three. Oh three how I loathe you. We rang in three with promises of potty training and the end of tantrums. Three was sold as the age of independence. Three claimed better eating, better sleeping, better BEHAVING. Why three...WHY? A.J. has been three for 2 months and so far three has made two look like the "terrific two's". Three has NOT helped with potty training, or should I say complete lack of potty training. Three has not helped the tantrums, in fact not the tantrums are just louder and last longer. This age of independence myth, has resulted in arguments over shoes, bath time, bed time, car seat usage, teeth brushing, playing/sharing, and just about everything else. In-fact the only thing he doesn't want to be independent in is potty training.

You are so right on. I could have written this post (and might have...) when my oldest was 3. The first part of 4 was pretty rotten too. Now that we're nearing 5, I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Figures... just as my younger one is about to turn 3.

I said the same thing when my oldest turned three.
All that independence "they" claim for 3 year olds only makes moms more stressed. Hopefully it will not last to long.
Hugs.

Oh you hit the nail on the head with that one! Three is way worse than two ever even thought of being!! My first was amazing until three came....then BAM!! Twos are nothing!!

Three is definitely the new 2! Word on the street, 3 is worse than the twos. Don't worry. My daughter is now 4 and things settled down tremendously around
3 1/2. Hang in there. So far, 4 has been wonderful!!

I'll take 2 over 3 any day of the week. They've got it ALL wrong! The phrase Terrible Two's must have been created by a man who forgot how old his kid was.

Oh, Kristin. Three has been a horrible age for all of my kids who have seen that age so far. Horrible. Way worse than two. And, if it makes you feel any better (which I'm sure it won't), Lilah is my only child who potty trained before 3 1/2 years of age.

I had one with terrible threes, and one with terrible twos-
My almost three year old now is in the "terrible two and a halves"...not so much fun-but I feel your pain!!!
And potty training? Yeah, right!!! I just can't get it together!

Stay strong!

Maybe you can reward him each time he uses the toilet.

For #1 I used to sit the boys on the toilet backward (they were too short to stand and go). They *loved* watching the bubbles.

Oh Girl, I am right there with Ya'
Geez! 3 is really difficult for me. Little Miss Independent here at our house can really add grey hairs to my head in a matter of minutes. I really hope that this "STUFF" whatever it is, ends soon. My Nerves are shot. LOL

I am so with you on this one. Twos are a breeze compared to threes.

Hahaha. I've always said three was the terrible twos with an attitude.
